ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಜಗನ್ಮಯ ಸ್ವಯಂಭೂ (ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ) ಗಾಢನಿದ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವಂತೆ ಮಹಾಸಮುದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪದ್ಮನಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದನು. ತಪಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಂಟಾದ ವಿಘ್ನದಿಂದ ‘ಮಧು’ ಎಂಬ ಮಹಾಸುರನು ಜನ್ಮಿಸಿದನು।
