Mother of Rāma (jananī)

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Inside a quiet royal chamber, Rama stands with folded hands as his mother, seated with composed tenderness, speaks softly—her words both a blessing and a boundary. FAQs

The speaker is Rāma’s mother (jananī), addressing Rāma directly and instructing him to return to his own dwelling.

“Puruṣottama” is an honorific meaning the Supreme Person or the best of men, highlighting Rāma’s exemplary nature and divine stature even within a domestic, mother–son dialogue.

It underscores gentle counsel and filial attentiveness: a mother advises without harshness, and Rāma is portrayed as one who listens carefully to rightful instruction.
