Educational Q&A

Even in victory, one should exercise restraint and avoid needless harm—especially against incapacitated opponents—while still acting prudently to secure safety and establish proof of success. The episode highlights a dharmic balance between effective strategy and ethical limits in conflict.

After the Kaurava warriors have been rendered unconscious, Arjuna remembers Uttarā’s earlier words and instructs Prince Uttara to quickly withdraw the chariot from the center of the enemy host before they recover, and to remove the opponents’ distinctive garments (white, yellow, blue) as identifying trophies and evidence.
