Adhyāya 6: Kaṅka (Yudhiṣṭhira) Seeks Refuge in Virāṭa’s Assembly
वासुदेवस्य भगिनीं दिव्यमाल्यविभूषिताम् । दिव्याम्बरधरां देवीं खड़्गखेटकधारिणीम्
vaiśampāyana uvāca | vāsudevasya bhaginīṃ divya-mālya-vibhūṣitām | divyāmbara-dharāṃ devīṃ khaḍga-kheṭaka-dhāriṇīm |
ವಾಸುದೇವನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯನ್ನು, ದಿವ್ಯ ಮಾಲ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿತಳನ್ನು; ದಿವ್ಯ ವಸ್ತ್ರಧಾರಿಣಿಯಾದ, ಖಡ್ಗ ಮತ್ತು ಖೇಟಕ (ಢಾಲ) ಧರಿಸಿದ ಆ ದೇವಿಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse models devotional recollection of a protective divine power: remembering the goddess—radiant, adorned, and armed—signals reliance on dharmic protection and auspiciousness before or amid difficult circumstances.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana introduces a reverential description/invocation: he speaks of Vāsudeva’s sister as a goddess, ornamented with celestial garlands and garments, holding sword and shield—presenting her as a divine, protective presence.
