एकत:ः सरित: सर्वा गड़ाद्या: सलिलोच्चया: । पयोष्णी चैकत: पुण्या तीर्थेभ्यो हि मता मम,एक ओर अगाध जलराशिसे भरी हुई गंगा आदि सम्पूर्ण नदियाँ हों और दूसरी ओर केवल पुण्यसलिला पयोष्णी नदी हो तो वही अन्य सब नदियोंकी अपेक्षा श्रेष्ठ है; ऐसा मेरा विचार है
ekataḥ saritaḥ sarvā gaṅgādyāḥ salilocchayāḥ | payoṣṇī caikataḥ puṇyā tīrthebhyo hi matā mama ||
ಒಂದು ಕಡೆ ಗಂಗಾದಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ನದಿಗಳು ಅಗಾಧ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮೃದ್ಧ ಜಲದಿಂದ ಉಕ್ಕಿ ಹರಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ, ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಕಡೆ ಕೇವಲ ಪುಣ್ಯಸಲಿಲ ಪಯೋಷ್ಣೀ ಮಾತ್ರ ಇದ್ದರೂ—ನನ್ನ ಮತದಲ್ಲಿ ತೀರ್ಥಫಲದ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಪಯೋಷ್ಣೀಯೇ ಉಳಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ. ಹೊರಗಿನ ವೈಭವವೂ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವೂ ಅಲ್ಲ; ಪಾವಿತ್ರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ತೀರ್ಥಶಕ್ತಿಯೇ ಪ್ರಧಾನ।
