Pulastya’s Instruction
एतच्छुत्वा शुभं वाक््यं रामस्य पितरस्तदा,परशुरामजीका यह शुभ वचन सुनकर उनके पितर बड़े प्रसन्न हुए और हर्षमें भरकर बोले--“वत्स! तुम्हारी तपस्या इस विशेष पितृभक्तिसे पुन: बढ़ जाय
etac chrutvā śubhaṃ vākyaṃ rāmasya pitaras tadā | paraśurāmajī kā yaḥ śubha vacana sunkar unke pitar baṛe prasanna hue aur harṣa meṃ bharkar bole—“vatsa! tumhārī tapasyā is viśeṣa pitṛbhakti se punaḥ baṛh jāy(a)…”
ರಾಮನ ಈ ಶುಭ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅವನ ಪಿತೃಗಳು ಆ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು. ಹರ್ಷದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು—“ವತ್ಸ! ಈ ವಿಶೇಷ ಪಿತೃಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ತಪಸ್ಸು ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಲಿ.”
घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse highlights pitṛbhakti—devotion and duty toward one’s ancestors—as a dharmic virtue that strengthens one’s tapas (spiritual merit and discipline). Ethical conduct is shown as relational: honoring lineage and obligations becomes a source of inner power and blessing.
Rama (Paraśurāma) speaks in a way that pleases his forefathers. Upon hearing his auspicious words, the ancestors rejoice and respond with affectionate praise and a blessing that his austerity will grow through his exceptional ancestral devotion.
