पृथिव्यां यानि तीर्थानि अन्तरिक्षचराणि च । नद्यो हृदास्तडागाश्ष्‌ सर्वप्र्नवणानि च,पृथ्वीपर और आकाशमें जितने तीर्थ, नदी, हृद, तड़ाग, सम्पूर्ण झरने, उदपान, बावली, तीर्थ और मन्दिर हैं, वे प्रत्येक मासकी अमावस्याको संनिहतीमें अवश्य पधारेंगे। तीर्थोका संघात या समूह होनेके कारण ही वह संनिहती नामसे विख्यात है

Transliteration

ghulastya uvāca | pṛthivyāṁ yāni tīrthāni antarīkṣa-carāṇi ca | nadyo hradās taḍāgāś ca sarva-prasravaṇāni ca |

Translation

ಘೂಲಸ್ತ್ಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲ ತೀರ್ಥಗಳು, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅಂತರಿಕ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸುವ ತೀರ್ಥಗಳೂ; ನದಿಗಳು, ಸರೋವರಗಳು, ಕೆರೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜಲಸ್ರೋತಗಳು—ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಪ್ರತಿಮಾಸ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆಯಂದು ಸಂನಿಹತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಒಂದಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ತೀರ್ಥಗಳ ಈ ಸಂನಿಪಾತದಿಂದಲೇ ಅದು ‘ಸಂನಿಹತೀ’ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ.
