Kāmyaka-vane Pāṇḍava-nivāsaḥ — Vidurasya āgamanam ca (कamyake वने पाण्डवनिवासः—विदुरस्य आगमनं च)
स व्यलीकं पर प्राप्तो मत्त: परमबुद्धिमान् । त्यक्ष्यामि जीवितं प्राज्ञ तं गच्छानय संजय,“बुद्धिमान् संजय! मुझसे परम मेधावी विदुरका बड़ा अपराध हुआ। तुम जाकर उन्हें ले आओ, नहीं तो मैं प्राण त्याग दूँगा”
sa vyalīkaṃ para prāpto mattaḥ paramabuddhimān | tyakṣyāmi jīvitaṃ prājña taṃ gacchānaya sañjaya |
“ಹೇ ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಞ ಸಂಜಯ, ಆ ಪರಮಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತ ವಿದುರನು ನನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಅಪರಾಧವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆತರು; ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾನು ಜೀವ ತ್ಯಜಿಸುವೆ.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even the wise can be overtaken by wounded pride and anger; the episode highlights the ethical need for restraint and reconciliation, and the danger of making extreme vows (like threatening to abandon life) to compel others.
A powerful figure, feeling gravely wronged by the highly intelligent Vidura, orders Sañjaya to fetch him back at once, declaring that he will give up his life if Vidura is not brought—showing escalating tension around counsel, offence, and authority.
