वैशम्पायन उवाच वानेयांश्व म्गांश्चैव शुद्धैर्बाणैर्निपातितान् | ब्राह्मणानां निवेद्याग्रमभुञ्जन् पुरुषर्षभा:,वैशम्पायनजीने कहा--राजन्! पुरुषश्रेष्ठ पाण्डव जंगली फल-मूल और खेतीसे पैदा हुए अन्नादि भी पहले ब्राह्मणोंको निवेदन करके फिर स्वयं खाते थे एवं सब लोगोंकी रक्षाके लिये केवल बाणोंके द्वारा ही हिंसक पशुओंको मारा करते थे
vaiśampāyana uvāca | vāneyāṁś ca mṛgāṁś caiva śuddhair bāṇair nipātitān | brāhmaṇānāṁ nivedyāgram abhuñjan puruṣarṣabhāḥ |
ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ರಾಜನೇ, ಆ ಪುರುಷಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಪಾಂಡವರು ಅರಣ್ಯದ ಫಲಮೂಲವಾಗಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ಕೃಷಿಯಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಧಾನ್ಯವಾಗಲಿ—ಉತ್ತಮ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಮೊದಲು ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿ ನಂತರವೇ ತಾವೂ ಭೋಜನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲರ ರಕ್ಷಣಾರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಕ್ರೂರ ಮೃಗಗಳನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧ, ನಿಖರ ಬಾಣಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ಬೀಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
