वैशम्पायन उवाच
This line functions as a colophon: it teaches attentiveness to textual structure and transmission—how the epic is carefully segmented and concluded—supporting disciplined study (svādhyāya) and faithful preservation of narrative units.
The narrator (Vaiśampāyana) signals that the forty-seventh chapter—focused on the theme of traveling with the sage Lomaśa—has concluded within the Indralokābhigamana portion of the Vana Parva, preparing the listener for the next chapter or thematic shift.
