Sāvitrī’s Dialogue with Yama and the Restoration of Satyavān
sa mālayā tadā vīraḥ śuśubhe kaṇṭha-saktayā | śrīmān iva mahāśailo malayo megha-mālayā ||
The verse suggests that true splendor is not merely external; when a hero’s adornment is appropriate and auspicious, it becomes a sign of inner vitality and dignity, like nature’s own ornamentation of a mountain with clouds.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes Sugrīva at that moment: a garland lies upon his neck, enhancing his radiance. The poet compares this beauty to Mount Malaya appearing magnificent when encircled by cloud-bands.
