Kuvalāśva’s Lineage and Uttaṅka’s Petition concerning Dhundhu (धुन्धु-प्रसङ्गः)
वामदेव उवाच नानुयोगा ब्राह्मणानां भवन्ति वाचा राजन् मनसा कर्मणा वा । यस्त्वेवं ब्रह्म तपसान्वेति विद्वां- स्तेन श्रेष्ठो भवति हि जीवमान:,वामदेवने कहा--राजन्! मन, वाणी अथवा क्रियाद्वारा कोई भी अनुशासन या दण्ड ब्राह्मणोंपर लागू नहीं हो सकता। जो इस प्रकार जानकर कष्टसहनपूर्वक ब्राह्मणकी सेवा करता है; वह उस ब्राह्मणसेवारूप कर्मसे ही श्रेष्ठ होता और जीवित रहता है
Vāmadeva uvāca: nānuyogā brāhmaṇānāṃ bhavanti vācā rājan manasā karmaṇā vā | yas tv evaṃ brahma tapasānveti vidvāṃs tena śreṣṭho bhavati hi jīvamānaḥ ||
ವಾಮದೇವನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ರಾಜನೇ! ವಾಣಿ, ಮನಸ್ಸು ಅಥವಾ ಕರ್ಮ—ಯಾವುದರಿಂದಲೂ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರ ಆದೇಶ, ತಿರಸ್ಕಾರ ಅಥವಾ ದಂಡ ವಿಧಿಸುವುದು ಧರ್ಮಸಮ್ಮತವಲ್ಲ. ಇದನ್ನು ಅರಿತು, ತಪಸ್ಸು ಮತ್ತು ಭಕ್ತಿಪೂರ್ಣ ಸೇವೆಯಿಂದ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುವ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯೇ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನು; ಆ ಆಚಾರದಿಂದಲೇ ಅವನು ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿಯೇ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ.
