वैशम्पायन उवाच
Extraordinary knowledge and ascetic effort do not guarantee access to every truth; some events and beings remain concealed by destiny or higher divine arrangement. The verse underscores humility before the limits of perception, even for one who claims knowledge of the three times.
Vaiśaṃpāyana reports to a king that, despite performing austerities and deep meditation, he could not determine anything about a particular child. The statement heightens the sense of mystery around the child’s identity or fate and signals that the situation exceeds ordinary means of knowing.
