करभारभयाद्‌ भीता गृहस्था: परिमोषका: | मुनिच्छञाकृतिच्छन्ना वाणिज्यमुपजीविन:

Transliteration

karabhārabhayād bhītā gṛhasthāḥ parimoṣakāḥ | municchadākṛticchannā vāṇijyam upajīvinaḥ ||

Translation

ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಭಾರೀ ಹೊರೆ ಹೊರುವ ಭಯದಿಂದ ಭೀತರಾದ ಆ ದೋಚುಗಾರರು ಗೃಹಸ್ಥರ ವೇಷವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಮುನಿಗಳ ರೂಪದ ಛದ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮರೆತು ವ್ಯಾಪಾರವನ್ನು ಜೀವನೋಪಾಯವಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು—ಅದೇ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳ್ಳತನ-ಲೂಟಿಯನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು।
