Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the stark impermanence of life and the grim consequences of warfare: even valor and weaponry become meaningless once life departs. It implicitly cautions that martial action, though sometimes tied to kṣatriya duty, carries unavoidable suffering and should be weighed within dharma.

Arjuna describes a battlefield scene where many warriors have fallen dead with bows still in hand; their charioteers are killed, and the now-uncontrolled horses drag the lifeless bodies, emphasizing chaos and tragedy after the fighting.
