The Birth and Career Account of Māndhātṛ
तस्य चैत्यैर्महाराज क्रतूनां दक्षिणावताम् | चतुरन्ता मही व्याप्ता नासीत् किंचिदनावृतम्,महाराज! उनके दक्षिणायुक्त यज्ञोंके चैत्यों (यज्ञमण्डपों)-से चारों ओरकी पृथ्वी भर गयी थी, कहीं कोई भी स्थान ऐसा नहीं था जो उनके यज्ञमण्डपोंसे घिरा न हो
tasya caityair mahārāja kratūnāṃ dakṣiṇāvatām | caturantā mahī vyāptā nāsīt kiṃcid anāvṛtam ||
ಲೋಮಶನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಮಹಾರಾಜನೇ! ದಕ್ಷಿಣಾಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದ ಅವನ ಕ್ರತುಗಳ ಚೈತ್ಯಗಳು (ಯಜ್ಞಮಂಟಪಗಳು) ನಾಲ್ಕೂ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಾಪಿಸಿತ್ತು; ಅವನ ಯಜ್ಞಪರಿಸರಗಳಿಂದ ಆವರಿಸಲ್ಪಡದ ಸ್ಥಳವೆಂದರೆ ಯಾವುದೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
लोमश उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic kingship expressed through properly conducted sacrifices—especially the ethical obligation of dakṣiṇā (fair gifts/fees). Ritual is presented not as mere display but as sustained generosity and social responsibility that spreads widely, symbolically ‘covering’ the land.
Lomaśa describes the extraordinary scale of a ruler’s sacrificial activity: so many yajña-pavilions and ritual enclosures were established that the earth in every direction seemed filled with them, leaving no place untouched by the signs of his rites.
