Kirmīra-rākṣasa-saṃgamaḥ (Encounter and Slaying of Kirmīra) |
atha bhīmo 'bhyuvāca enāṃ sābhimānam idaṃ vacaḥ | nodvijeyaṃ ahaṃ tasmān nihaniṣye 'ham āgataṃ ||
The verse highlights a protective, duty-driven courage typical of a kṣatriya ideal—standing ready to defend others from harm—while also warning implicitly that valor can be mixed with abhimāna (pride), which must be disciplined by dharma.
After hearing about a threatening rākṣasa, Bhīma responds to the woman being addressed with a bold declaration: he is unafraid, and if the rākṣasa comes, Bhīma will kill him.
