सगरोपाख्यानम् — कपिलकोपः, अंशुमतः विनयः, तथा भगीरथपरम्परा

अथान्तरिक्षाच्छुश्राव वाचं गम्भीरनि:स्वनाम् । राजन् मा साहसं कार्षी: पुत्रान् न त्यक्तुमहसि,इसी समय आकाशसे एक गम्भीर वाणी सुनायी दी--'“राजन्! ऐसा दुःसाहस न करो। अपने इन पुत्रोंका त्याग करना तुम्हारे लिये उचित नहीं है। इस तूँबीमें से एक-एक बीजको निकालकर घीसे भरे हुए गरम घड़ोंमें अलग-अलग रक््खो और यत्नपूर्वक इन सबकी रक्षा करो
athāntarikṣāc chuśrāva vācaṃ gambhīra-niḥsvanām | rājan mā sāhasaṃ kārṣīḥ putrān na tyaktum arhasi |
ಆಗ ಆಕಾಶದಿಂದ ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಧ್ವನಿಸುವ ವಾಣಿ ಕೇಳಿಬಂತು—“ರಾಜನೇ! ಇಂತಹ ಸಾಹಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಡ; ನಿನ್ನ ಪುತ್ರರನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸುವುದು ನಿನಗೆ ಯುಕ್ತವಲ್ಲ.”
