Sainyasaṅgraha and Bhāga-Vyavasthā (Forces Assembled and Rival Allocations) | सैन्यसंग्रह-भागव्यवस्था
द्रौपदेया महेष्वासा: सुवर्णविकृतध्वजा: । धृष्टद्युम्नमुखा द्रोणमभियास्यन्ति भारत
drau-padeyā maheṣvāsāḥ suvarṇa-vikṛta-dhvajāḥ | dhṛṣṭadyumna-mukhā droṇam abhiyāsyanti bhārata ||
ಓ ಭಾರತ! ದ್ರೌಪದಿಯ ಪುತ್ರರು ಮಹಾಧನುರ್ಧರರು; ಅವರ ಧ್ವಜಗಳು ಸ್ವರ್ಣಾಲಂಕಾರಗಳಿಂದ ಶೋಭಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಧೃಷ್ಟದ್ಯುಮ್ನನನ್ನು ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟು ಅವರು ದ್ರೋಣನ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾಳಿ ಮಾಡಲು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಯುವರು।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the martial duty and resolve of the Pāṇḍava side: disciplined leadership (Dhṛṣṭadyumna at the front) and collective effort (the Draupadeyas) directed toward a formidable elder (Droṇa). Ethically, it underscores the tragic tension of kṣatriya-dharma—war compels even attacks upon revered teachers when allegiance and justice are contested.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra a battlefield development/forecast: the Draupadeyas, conspicuous with gold-adorned standards and renowned archery, will move forward under Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s lead to engage Droṇa in combat.
