Kṛṣṇasya Karṇam Prati Sāntvavacana
Kṛṣṇa’s Conciliatory Address to Karṇa
धैर्यवान् और जितेन्द्रिय ब्राह्मण जिनके सहायक हैं, उन उग्र तपस्वी वीर पाण्डवको तुम कैसे जीत सकोगे? ।।
dhairyavān ca jitendriya-brāhmaṇā yeṣāṁ sahāyakāḥ, tān ugrān tapasvino vīrān pāṇḍavān tvaṁ kathaṁ jeṣyasi? punar uktaṁ ca vakṣyāmi yat kāryaṁ bhūtim icchatā—suhṛdā majjamāneṣu suhṛtsu vyasanārṇave; yathā pūrvam uktam api, tathāpi tad ahaṁ punaḥ vakṣyāmi.
ಧೈರ್ಯವಂತರೂ ಇಂದ್ರಿಯನಿಗ್ರಹಿಗಳೂ ಆದ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರು ಸಹಾಯಕರಾಗಿರುವ ಆ ಉಗ್ರತಪಸ್ವಿ ವೀರ ಪಾಂಡವರನ್ನು ನೀನು ಹೇಗೆ ಜಯಿಸಬಲ್ಲೆ? ಆದರೂ ನಾನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ—ನಿಜವಾದ ಹಿತವನ್ನು ಬಯಸುವವನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದದ್ದು ಇದು: ಅನೇಕ ಸುವೃದ್ದರು ವಿಪತ್ತಿನ ಸಾಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಹಿತೈಷಿ ಮಿತ್ರನ ಧರ್ಮವೆಂದರೆ ಆ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಮಾತನ್ನೇ ಹೇಳುವುದು. ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರೂ, ನಾನು ಅದನ್ನೇ ಪುನಃ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.
