Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 130: Kuntī’s Instruction on Rājadharma and Daṇḍanīti
नेत्राभ्यां नस्ततश्लैव श्रोत्राभ्यां च समन्ततः । प्रादुरासन् महारौद्रा: सधूमा: पावकार्चिष:,उनके नेत्रोंसे, नासिकाके छिद्रोंसे और दोनों कानोंसे सब ओर अत्यन्त भयंकर धूमयुक्त आगकी लपटें प्रकट हो रही थीं
netrābhyāṃ nāsatacchlaiva śrotrābhyāṃ ca samantataḥ | prādurāsan mahāraudrāḥ sadhūmāḥ pāvakārcīṣaḥ ||
ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಅವರ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿಂದ, ಮೂಗಿನ ರಂಧ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಮತ್ತು ಎರಡೂ ಕಿವಿಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಎಲ್ಲ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹೊಗೆಯಿಂದ ಆವೃತವಾದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಭೀಕರ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಿಖೆಗಳು ಹೊರಹೊಮ್ಮಿದವು. ಆ ಜ್ವಾಲೆ ಸಂಯಮ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಬಿಡುವ ಉಗ್ರ ಭಾವನೆಗಳೂ, ಸಮೀಪಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹಿಂಸೆಯೂ ಸೂಚಿಸುವ ಅಪಶಕುನದಂತೆ ತೋರ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು.
