वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a colophon, the verse does not teach through argument but through framing: it highlights that Kṛṣṇa’s words belong to a dharma-centered diplomatic mission. The ethical emphasis is that counsel and peace-making are integral to righteous conduct before resorting to war.
The text is formally closing a chapter within the Udyoga Parva, specifically in the Bhagavad-yāna (Kṛṣṇa’s embassy) section, indicating that the preceding portion consisted of Kṛṣṇa’s discourse and that the 128th chapter has concluded.
