Adhyāya 90 — Protection of Livelihoods, Brahmanical Subsistence Norms, and Royal Oversight (राष्ट्रवृत्ति-राष्ट्रगुप्ति-उपदेशः)
तस्यां प्रवर्तमानायां ये स्युस्तत्परिपन्थिन: । दस्यवस्तद्व धायेह ब्रह्मा क्षत्रमथासृजत्
tasyāṃ pravartamānāyāṃ ye syus tat-paripanthinaḥ | dasyavas tad-vadhāyeha brahmā kṣatram athāsṛjat ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—“ವೇದವಿದ್ಯೆಯ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ-ಅಧ್ಯಾಪನ ಮತ್ತು ವೇದೋಕ್ತ ಯಜ್ಞಕರ್ಮಗಳು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅವಕ್ಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಪಡಿಸುವವರು ದಸ್ಯುಗಳಂತೆ. ಅಂಥವರನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನು ಈ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯ ವರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದನು.”
