जनमेजय उवाच एवं बहुविध॑ धर्म प्रतिबुद्धैर्निषिवितम् । न कुर्वन्ति कथं विप्रा अन्ये नानाव्रते स्थिता:
Janamejaya uvāca: evaṁ bahuvidhaṁ dharmaṁ pratibuddhair niṣevitam | na kurvanti kathaṁ viprā anye nānāvrate sthitāḥ ||
ಜನಮೇಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಮುನಿಯೇ! ಅನೇಕ ವಿಧದ ಗುಣಗಳಿಂದ ಸಮೃದ್ಧವಾದ ಈ ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಜಾಗೃತರೂ ವಿವೇಕಿಗಳೂ ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಹಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ನಾನಾವ್ರತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರಾದ ಇತರ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರು ಇದನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಆಚರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ?
