शिष्याणां वचन श्रुत्वा व्यासो वेदार्थतत्त्ववित् । पराशरात्मजो धीमान् परलोकार्थचिन्तक:
śiṣyāṇāṁ vacanaṁ śrutvā vyāso vedārtha-tattva-vit | parāśarātmajo dhīmān paralokārtha-cintakaḥ ||
ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ವಚನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ, ವೇದಾರ್ಥತತ್ತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅರಿತವನು, ಪರಾಶರಪುತ್ರನಾದ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತ ವ್ಯಾಸನು— ಪರಲೋಕಹಿತವನ್ನು ಚಿಂತಿಸುವವನು— ಅವರ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಮನನ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
