Nārada at Badarīāśrama: the ultimate referent of daiva and pitṛ worship
vyāsa uvāca | dharmāya ye 'bhyasūyanti buddhimohānvitā narāḥ | apathā gacchatāṁ teṣām anuyātā 'pi pīḍyate ||
Resentment toward dharma arises from deluded understanding; choosing an unrighteous path harms not only the wrongdoer but also those influenced by or dependent on them, highlighting moral responsibility and the ripple effect of unethical leadership.
In Vyāsa’s instruction within the Śānti discourse, he characterizes a type of person—confused in intellect—who criticizes dharma and therefore walks the wrong road; the verse underscores that their companions and followers are dragged into suffering as a consequence.
