Impermanence, Svabhāva, and Śuka’s Resolve for Yoga
प्राप्स्यसे च यदिष्टं तत् सांख्ययोगेप्सितं पदम् । एतावदुक्त्वा भगवानस्तमेवाभ्यवर्तत
prāpsyase ca yadiṣṭaṃ tat sāṅkhyayogepsitaṃ padam | etāvad uktvā bhagavān astam evābhyavartata |
ಸಾಂಖ್ಯಜ್ಞರೂ ಯೋಗಿಗಳೂ ಬಯಸುವ ಆ ಇಷ್ಟಪದವನ್ನು ನೀನು ಪಡೆಯುವಿ. ಇಷ್ಟೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಭಗವಾನ್ ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಅಲ್ಲೀಯೇ ಅಂತರ್ಧಾನರಾದರು.
याज़्ञवल्क्य उवाच
The verse affirms that the promised attainment is the highest spiritual goal (padam) sought by both Sāṅkhya (knowledge/discrimination) and Yoga (discipline/meditation), implying the convergence of these paths in liberation-oriented realization.
A divine figure identified as the Sun-god delivers a brief assurance of the seeker’s attainment of the supreme desired state; after speaking, he withdraws and becomes invisible, marking the close of the divine encounter.
