Adhyāya 283: Varṇa-vṛtti, Nyāya-ārjana, and the Decline-and-Restoration of Dharma (वर्णवृत्तिः न्यायार्जनं च)
(महामुनि दधीचि भी उस यज्ञमण्डपमें उपस्थित थे। उन्होंने देखा कि देवता और दानव आदिका समाज तो खूब जुटा हुआ है; परंतु भगवान् शंकर दिखायी नहीं देते हैं। जान पड़ता है उनका आवाहन नहीं किया गया है। इससे उनके मनमें बड़ा दुःख हुआ।) उन सब देवताओंको वहाँ उपस्थित देख दधीचि क्रोधमें भर गये और बोले--'सज्जनो! जिसमें भगवान् शिवकी पूजा नहीं होती है
mohān na paśyanti vināśaṃ paryupasthitam | upasthitaṃ mahāghoraṃ na budhyante mahādhvare ||
ಮೋಹದಿಂದ ಅಂಧರಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿದ ವಿನಾಶವನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಮಹಾಯಜ್ಞದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಘೋರ ವಿಪತ್ತು ಎದುರಿಗೇ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅವರು ಅದನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
