भगवन् क्व नु यान्त्येते देवा: शक्रपुरोगमा: । ब्रृहि तत्त्वेन तत्त्वज्ञ संशयो मे महानयम्,'भगवन्! ये इन्द्र आदि देवता कहाँ जा रहे हैं? तत्त्वज्ञ परमेश्वर! ठीक-ठीक बताइये। मेरे मनमें यह महान् संशय उत्पन्न हुआ है”
bhagavan kva nu yānty ete devāḥ śakra-purogamāḥ | brūhi tattvena tattvajña saṁśayo me mahān ayam ||
“ಭಗವನ್! ಶಕ್ರ (ಇಂದ್ರ) ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ? ತತ್ತ್ವಜ್ಞ ಪ್ರಭು, ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಯಥಾರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿರಿ; ನನ್ನ ಮನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾ ಸಂಶಯ ಉಂಟಾಗಿದೆ.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse foregrounds dharmic inquiry: when confronted with an unclear divine or moral situation, one should seek clarification from a tattvajña (knower of reality) and ask for an account grounded in tattva (truth), not conjecture.
Bhīṣma addresses a revered interlocutor and asks where the gods, led by Indra, are going. His question arises from a strong inner doubt, prompting him to request a precise, truthful explanation.
