Adhyāya 270 — Yudhiṣṭhira’s inquiry on saṃnyāsa; Bhīṣma on calculable time, tamas, and karma
Vṛtra–Uśanā exemplum begins
कामलोभानुबन्धेन पुरा ते यदसूयितम् । मया स्नेहमविज्ञाय तत्र मे क्षन्तुमहसि
kāmalobhānubandhena purā te yad asūyitam | mayā sneham avijñāya tatra me kṣantum arhasi ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಹಿಂದೆ ಕಾಮಲೋಭಗಳ ಬಂಧನದಿಂದ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಸೂಯೆಯಿಂದ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿದ್ದ ಸ್ನೇಹವನ್ನು ಅರಿಯದೆ ತಪ್ಪಿದೆನು; ಆ ದೋಷಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಬೇಕು.
