काल पश्यति सुव्यक्ते पाणावामलकं यथा । कालचारित्रतत्त्वज्ञ: सर्वशास्त्रविशारद:
kālaṁ paśyati suvyakte pāṇāv āmalakaṁ yathā | kālacāritra-tattvajñaḥ sarvaśāstra-viśāradaḥ ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ನೀನು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟ ಆಮಲಕ ಫಲವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವಂತೆ ಕಾಲವನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತೀ. ನೀನು ಕಾಲದ ಸ್ವಭಾವ-ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯ ತತ್ತ್ವಜ್ಞನು; ಸರ್ವಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶಾರದನು.
