अध्याय १७८ — प्राणवायुगतिः तथा शारीराग्निव्यवस्था

Adhyāya 178 — The courses of prāṇa-vāyu and the regulation of the bodily fire

न युष्मास्विह मे प्रीति: कामलो भानुसारिषु । तस्मादुत्सृज्य कामान्‌ वै सत्त्वमेवाश्रयाम्यहम्‌,“पंचभूतगण! अहंकार आदिके साथ तुम सब लोग काम और लोभके पीछे लगे रहनेवाले हो। अतः तुमपर यहाँ मेरा रत्तीभर भी स्नेह नहीं है। इसलिये मैं समस्त कामनाओंको छोड़कर केवल अब सत्त्वगुणका आश्रय ले रहा हूँ

na yuṣmāsv iha me prītiḥ kāmalo bhānusāriṣu | tasmād utsṛjya kāmān vai sattvam evāśrayāmy aham ||

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಓ ಪಂಚಭೂತಗಣವೇ! ನೀವು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಕಾಮ ಮತ್ತು ಲೋಭದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಓಡುವವರು; ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ನನಗೆ ಕಣಮಾತ್ರವೂ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ಆಸೆಗಳನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿ, ಈಗ ನಾನು ಸತ್ತ್ವಗುಣವನ್ನೇ ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
