भीष्म उवाच अत्र ते वर्तयिष्यामि पुराणमृषिसंस्तुतम्‌ । इन्द्रोत: शौनको विप्रो यदाह जनमेजयम्‌

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | atra te vartayiṣyāmi purāṇam ṛṣi-saṁstutam | indrotaḥ śaunako vipro yad āha janamejayam ||

Translation

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— ರಾಜನೇ! ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಋಷಿಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿತವಾದ ಒಂದು ಪುರಾತನಾಖ್ಯಾನವನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳುವೆನು; ಶೌನಕವಂಶೀಯ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಇಂದ್ರೋತನು ರಾಜ ಜನಮೇಜಯನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದದೇ ಅದು।
