कालाकालौ सम्प्रधार्य बलाबलमथात्मन: । परस्य च बल ज्ञात्वा तत्रात्मानं नियोजयेत्‌

kālā-kālau sampradhārya balābalam athātmanaḥ | parasya ca balaṃ jñātvā tatrātmānaṃ niyojayet ||

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು— ಕಾಲ ಅನುಕೂಲವೋ ಪ್ರತಿಕೂಲವೋ, ತನ್ನ ಪಾಳಯ ಬಲವೋ ದುರ್ಬಲವೋ ಎಂದು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ತೂಗಿ, ಶತ್ರುವಿನ ಬಲವನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿದು, ನಂತರ ಯುದ್ಧವೋ ಸಂಧಿಯೋ ಎಂಬ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾನನ್ನು ನಿಯೋಜಿಸಬೇಕು।
