नानार्थिको<र्थसम्बन्धं कृतघ्नेन समाचरेत् । अर्थी तु शक््यते भोक्तुं कृतकार्यो5वमन्यते । तस्मात् सर्वाणि कार्याणि सावशेषाणि कारयेत्
bhīṣma uvāca | nānārthiko 'rthasambandhaṃ kṛtaghnena samācaret | arthī tu śakyate bhoktuṃ kṛtakāryo 'vamanyate | tasmāt sarvāṇi kāryāṇi sāvaśeṣāṇi kārayet |
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಅನೇಕ ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳಿರುವವನು ಕೃತಘ್ನನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಣಕಾಸಿನ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಬೆಳೆಸಬಾರದು; ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಯಾರ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಕೊಡಬಾರದು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಗುರಿಸಾಧನೆ ಬಯಸುವವನಿಂದ ಮರುಮರು ಸೇವೆ ಪಡೆಯಬಹುದು; ಆದರೆ ಗುರಿ ಸಾಧಿಸಿದವನು ಉಪಕಾರಿಯನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇತರರ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸುವಾಗ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವಾದರೂ ಉಳಿಕೆ ಇರಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
