एकान्ततो हाामर्यादात्‌ सर्वोडप्युद्धिजते जन: । दस्यवो<प्यभिशड्कन्ते निरनुक्रोशकारिण:

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | ekāntato hy āmaryādāt sarvo 'py udvijate janaḥ | dasyavo 'py abhiśaṅkante niranukrośakāriṇaḥ, bhārata |

Translation

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ಭಾರತ! ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಮર્યಾದೆಯಿಲ್ಲದವನಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಅಶಾಂತಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕೇವಲ ಕರುಣೆಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಕ್ರೂರಕೃತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡುವವನನ್ನು ದಸ್ಯುಗಳೂ ಸಹ ಶಂಕಿಸಿ ಭಯಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಮಿತಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಕ್ರೂರತೆ ದುಷ್ಟರಿಗೂ ಸೇರಿ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಅಸುರಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ।
