अनन्तरं क्षत्रियस्य तत्र कि विचिकित्स्यते | यथास्य धर्मों न ग्लायेन्नेयाच्छत्रुवशं यथा । तत् कर्तव्यमिहेत्याहुर्नात्मानवसादयेत्
anantaraṃ kṣatriyasya tatra kiṃ vicikitsyate | yathāsya dharmo na glāyen neyāc chatrūvaśaṃ yathā | tat kartavyam ihāty āhur nātmānam avasādayet |
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಆಪತ್ತು ತೀರಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯನಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನೇನು ಸಂಶಯ? ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಧರ್ಮ ಕುಗ್ಗದಂತೆ, ಶತ್ರುವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬೀಳದಂತೆ ನಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ಇದನ್ನೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವೆಂದು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಅವನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನೇ ಕುಗ್ಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು, ಮತ್ತೆ ಸಂಕಟಕ್ಕೆ ತಳ್ಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು।
