Bhīma warns that wisdom is not produced by words, recitation, or pious-sounding arguments alone; true dharma requires mature discernment of the real meaning (tattva-artha) and steadfast performance of one’s rightful duty, especially for a king.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīma addresses a king who is inclined toward renunciation; Bhīma rebukes him, saying his intellect is being carried away by mere verbal formulations rather than genuine insight, and urges adherence to the kingly responsibilities instead of premature saṃnyāsa.
