कथं नु शप्तो भ्राता मे तत्त्वं वक्तुमिहाहसि । नारदजी! संग्राममें कर्णके पहियेको पृथ्वी क्यों निगल गयी और मेरे बड़े भाई कर्णको कैसे यह शाप प्राप्त हुआ? इसे आप ठीक-ठीक बतानेकी कृपा करें
kathaṃ nu śapto bhrātā me tattvaṃ vaktum ihārhasi | nāradajī! saṃgrāme karṇasya pahiye ko pṛthvī kyoṃ nigala gayī aura mere baṛe bhāī karṇako kaise yaha śāpa prāpta huā? ise āpa ṭhīk-ṭhīk batāne kī kṛpā kareṃ |
ಯುಧಿಷ್ಠಿರನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಿಗೆ ಶಾಪ ಹೇಗೆ ಬಂದಿತು? ಅದರ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಲು ನೀವು ಸಮರ್ಥರು. ಓ ನಾರದಾ! ಯುದ್ಧಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯು ಕರ್ಣನ ರಥಚಕ್ರವನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ನುಂಗಿತು? ನನ್ನ ಹಿರಿಯ ಸಹೋದರ ಕರ್ಣನು ಆ ಶಾಪವನ್ನು ಯಾವ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಪಡೆದನು? ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ನಿಖರವಾಗಿ ವಿವರಿಸಿ।
