अमावास्यां महातेजास्तत्रोन्मज्जन् महाद्युति: | लोकान् प्रभासयामास शीतांशुत्वमवाप च
amāvāsyāṃ mahātejās tatrōnmajjan mahādyutiḥ | lokān prabhāsayāmāsa śītāṃśutvam avāpa ca ||
ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆಯಂದು ಆ ಮಹಾತೇಜಸ್ವಿ, ಮಹಾದ್ಯುತಿಯುಳ್ಳ ಚಂದ್ರನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿ ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಆ ಕರ್ಮದಿಂದ ಅವನು ಶೀತಲ ಕಿರಣಗಳ ಸ್ವಭಾವವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು, ಸಮಸ್ತ ಲೋಕಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಾಶಮಾನಗೊಳಿಸಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದನು.
