प्रत्युद्ययौ रथेनैव मत्तो मत्तमिव द्विपम् युद्धमें शोभा पानेवाले शल्य उनके रथको अपनी ओर आते देख स्वयं भी रथके द्वारा ही उनकी ओर बढ़े। ठीक उसी तरह, जैसे एक मतवाला हाथी दूसरे मदमत्त हाथीका सामना करनेके लिये जाता है

ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಶಲ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ರಥದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, ಅವನೂ ತನ್ನ ರಥದಲ್ಲೇ ಅವನನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಲು ಮುಂದಾದನು; ಮದೋನ್ಮತ್ತ ಆನೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಮದಮತ್ತ ಆನೆಯನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಲು ಹೋಗುವಂತೆ.
