Varuṇa’s Divine Assembly
Nārada’s Description
gītavāditravantaś ca gandharvāpsarasāṁ gaṇāḥ
The verse primarily paints an atmosphere rather than issuing a direct injunction: prosperity and power are often accompanied by dazzling arts and pleasures. Ethically, it can be read as a reminder that such splendor is attractive yet potentially distracting, and should be held with restraint and discernment.
Nārada is describing a scene marked by grandeur: groups of Gandharvas and Apsarases are present, filling the setting with singing and instrumental music, emphasizing the extraordinary, almost heavenly magnificence of the occasion.
