Shloka 113

अध्याय ९ — कर्णस्य प्रहारः, योधयुग्मनियोजनम्, शैनेय-कैकेययोर्युद्धविन्यासः

परिभूत: कथं सूत परै: शक्ष्यामि जीवितुम्‌ अब मैं मन्दबुद्धि मानव सबके लिये शोचनीय होकर दीन-दुःखी मनुष्योंके समान जीवन बिताऊँगा। सूत! मैं ही पहले सब लोगोंके सम्मानका पात्र था; किंतु अब शत्रुओंसे अपमानित होकर कैसे जीवित रह सकूँगा?

paribhūtaḥ kathaṃ sūta paraiḥ śakṣyāmi jīvitum

ಸೂತನೇ! ಇತರರಿಂದ ಅವಮಾನಿತನಾದ ನಾನು ಹೇಗೆ ಬದುಕಬಲ್ಲೆ? ಈಗ ನಾನು ಮಂದಬುದ್ಧಿಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯ, ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕರುಣಾಜನಕನಾಗಿ, ದೀನದುಃಖಿತರಂತೆ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆಯಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಸೂತನೇ! ಹಿಂದೆ ನಾನು ಎಲ್ಲರ ಗೌರವಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾತ್ರನಾಗಿದ್ದೆ; ಆದರೆ ಈಗ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಂದ ಅವಮಾನಿತನಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಹೇಗೆ ಜೀವಿಸಬಲ್ಲೆ?
