सनागप्त्त्यश्वरथे उभे बले विचित्रवर्माभरणाम्बरायुधे । चकम्पतुर्विस्मयनीयरूपे वियद्गताश्चार्जुनकर्णसंयुगे
sanāgapattyaśvarathe ubhe bale vicitravarmābharaṇāmbarāyudhe | cakampatur vismayanīyarūpe viyadgatāś cārjunakarṇasaṃyuge ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಆನೆ, ಕುದುರೆ, ರಥ, ಪಾದಾತಿಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ ಎರಡೂ ಪಾಳಯಗಳ ಚತುರಂಗಿಣಿ ಸೇನೆಗಳು, ವಿಚಿತ್ರ ಕವಚ-ಆಭರಣ-ವಸ್ತ್ರ-ಆಯುಧಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿತವಾಗಿ, ಅರ್ಜುನ–ಕರ್ಣರ ಆ ಅದ್ಭುತ ದ್ವಂದ್ವಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಭಯ-ವಿಸ್ಮಯದಿಂದ ಕಂಪಿಸಿದವು. ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸುವ ಜೀವಿಗಳೂ ಭಯದಿಂದ ನಡುಗಿದವು।
