कर्णस्य सेनापत्यं, माकरव्यूहः, पाण्डवानामर्धचन्द्रव्यूहः

तौ हि वीरौ महेष्वासौ मदर्थे कुरुसत्तमौ । भीष्मद्रोणौ हतीौ श्रुत्वा नार्थो वै जीवितेड्सति
tau hi vīrau maheṣvāsau madarthe kurusattamau | bhīṣmadroṇau hatāv śrutvā nārtho vai jīvite 'sti ||
ಧೃತರಾಷ್ಟ್ರನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಕುರೂಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರಾದ ಮಹಾಧನುರ್ಧರ ವೀರರಾದ ಭೀಷ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ದ್ರೋಣರು ನನ್ನ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೇ ಹತರಾದರು ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿ, ಈ ಅಧಮ ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನು ಯಾವ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ।
