प्रसन्नसलिले काले यथा स्यात् सागरो नृप । तद्धत् तव बल॑ तद् वै निश्चलं समवस्थितम्
sañjaya uvāca |
prasannasalile kāle yathā syāt sāgaro nṛpa |
tadvat tava balaṃ tad vai niścalaṃ samavasthitam ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ನೃಪ! ನೀರು ನಿರ್ಮಲವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಕಾಲ ಶಾಂತವಾಗಿರುವಾಗ ಸಾಗರ ಹೇಗೆ ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇನೆಯೂ ನಿಶ್ಚಲವಾಗಿ ಸುಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿತ್ತು.
संजय उवाच
The verse praises steadiness under pressure: like a calm ocean, a well-ordered force (or mind) should remain composed and firmly established, suggesting that stability and discipline are essential virtues in leadership and conflict.
Sañjaya reports to the king (implicitly Dhṛtarāṣṭra) about the condition of the king’s forces, describing them as steady and well-positioned, using the calm ocean as a simile to convey their firm, unshaken stance.
