Prelude to Karṇa’s Slaying
अपरे प्राद्रवन् नागा: शल्यार्ता व्रणपीडिता: । प्रतिमानैश्व कुम्भैश्न पेतुरुव्या महाहवे
apare prādravan nāgāḥ śalyārtā vraṇapīḍitāḥ | pratimānaiś ca kumbhaiś ca petur urvyā mahāhave ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಇನ್ನಿತರ ಗಜಗಳು ಶಲ್ಯಗಳ (ಭಾಲಗಳ) ಯಾತನೆಯಿಂದಲೂ ಗಾಯದ ನೋವಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಕಂಗೆಟ್ಟು ಭಯದಿಂದ ಓಡಿದವು; ಆ ಮಹಾಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಸಿದವು—ತಮ್ಮ ಮಹಾಕಾಯ ದೇಹಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಕುಂಭಗಳಂತೆ ಇರುವ ಮಸ್ತಕಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ನೆಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಡಿದು ಬಿದ್ದವು.
