द्रोणपर्व — द्विनवति-तमोऽध्यायः

भूर्दिशश्वान्तरिक्षं च शब्देनासीत् समावृतम् । स मुहूर्त प्रतिभयो दारुण: समपद्यत
bhūr diśaś cāntarikṣaṃ ca śabdenāsīt samāvṛtam | sa muhūrta-pratibhayo dāruṇaḥ samapadyata |
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಆನೆಗಳ ಗಂಟಾನಾದ, ಶಂಖನಾದ, ಧನುಸ್ಸಿನ ಟಂಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಗಜರಾಜಗಳ ಚಿಗ್ಘೋಷಗಳಿಂದ ಭೂಮಿ, ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಆಕಾಶ—ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಗರ್ಜನೆಯಿಂದ ಆವೃತವಾಯಿತು. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪಕಾಲ ದೃಶ್ಯವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಭಯಾನಕ, ಕಠೋರ ಮತ್ತು ದಾರುಣವಾಗಿ ಮಾರ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು; ಆ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದುಃಶಾಸನವೂ ಎರಡು ಘಡಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಚಂಡನಾಗಿ, ಕ್ರೂರನಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.
