Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how extraordinary martial restraint and skill can win universal acclaim in wartime, while implicitly inviting reflection that public praise of prowess is not identical with moral approval of the cause being served.

Jayadratha, fighting for the Kauravas, manages alone to hold back the furious Pāṇḍavas through the power of his weapons; Sañjaya reports that all beings praised this exploit.
