जलजानि च सत्त्वानि दहमानानि भारत । न शान्तिमुपजम्मुर्हि तप्यमानैर्जलाशयै:,भारत! जलाशय भी तप गये थे, जिससे दग्ध होनेवाले जलचर प्राणियोंको भी शान्ति नहीं मिल पाती थी
jalajāni ca sattvāni dahamānāni bhārata | na śāntim upajagmur hi tapyamānaiḥ jalāśayaiḥ ||
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ಭಾರತ! ಜಲಚರ ಜೀವಿಗಳೂ ಸಹ ಆ ಉಷ್ಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಡುತ್ತ ಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಕೆರೆ-ಸರೋವರಗಳಂತಹ ಜಲಾಶಯಗಳೇ ತಾಪದಿಂದ ಕುದಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು.
